Amicus Est Tanquam Alter Idem Pt. 8

For...
By: Amy Scheibe

Long ago in the spring,

if my mind suffices,
there lived a girl,
by whose heart was consumed,
in a trapessing rue.
She longed for someone,
to inherit her love.
Heedlessly time after time,
she fell into noisome romances,
that never seemed to traverse forward.
Again and again she was hurt,
but there was someone who was with her,
through the daunting times.
He wore a dark mantle,
and his eyes were profound against his pallid skin.
He wrote words of such passion,
that no mortal should be able.
His lips were as a lyre..
soothing,
and gentle.
He was vigil,
and graceful,
and most incredibly...
perfect.
He always lended the girl his hand,
and although he had a somber past,
his heart always had more to offer.

After many months of devouring writhen memories,
the twain finally turned their countenances,
towards each other.
In one anothers eyes they found vivid ardor.
As they intwined their fingers,
they forbode a long,
and astonishing future destined by fate itself.

Amicus Est Tanquam Alter Idem Pt. 7

The Shadow
By: Amy Scheibe

It will find you,
run, run, he whimpered,
His soul faded, like a withering rose,
I could see it in his eyes,
He was slipping away,
I had no time to mourn,
It was like an evening rain,
sweet, yet bitter,
And I ran,
and I never looked back,
for if I did,
I would surely fall,
deeper and deeper,
into the black hole,
I call my mind.

I can't pretend that i didn't want to,
For that would be a lie,
Curiosity gets to the best of us,
The trick is to forget,
forget what once was true,
and remember what was just a memory,
Maybe even just a dream,
Because dreams hold the most terrible truths,
even if you don't wish to believe it,
It was chasing me,
nothing more then a bad dream,
that had forced its way to make me believe,
believe it was real,
Its shadow stalking me,
Taking everything I loved,
Destroying it.

What would I do?
Force it back into my mind,
Make it live in the dark,
Where it belonged,
But how would I do it,
The thought raced through my head,
clawing and stabbing for an answer,
Making me feel my heart shudder,
deep in my veins,
from the fear,
the fear of failing,
failing once again.

Amicus Est Tanquam Alter Idem Pt. 6

I miss the way you taste.
I’ve been stuck in this rut for years,
begging you look at me.
Look what I’ve become.
A self-loathing animal,
I made this all for you.
The scars remind me of what could have been,
that I couldn’t have loved more thoroughly,
than I had when I was young.
The playfulness poured out of my eyes for attention,
and you took it all in for yourself.
Your selfish bones,
creaking my life away.
I dulled myself down for your comfort.
Are you comfortable watching me decay?
What have I become?
A self-loathing animal?
I made this all for you.
Kiss me away,
I wont come back I swear.
I’ll stay right here,
in this same place.
Still crying.
Still missing the way you taste.

    Closer To...

    By: Amy Scheibe

I sit next to him.
The darkness pours in.
I can feel his disease.
He turns his head slowly towards me.
I flinch at the sight.
His eyes dig into me.
Searching my soul.
I try to stop it.
A fight within me.
The searching continues.
Till it stops abruptly with a twisted smile.
Him then knowing my every weakness.
He never says a word but his body language tells it all.
His lips part and he speaks two words.
"Hello again."
My eyes widen.
My body freezes.
I ask "w..what?"
He says nothing.
Just hums a familiar tune.
I try to move, but my body refuses
I feel somehow drawn to listen.
It goes on for what feels like hours.
He stops suddenly.
Feeling as if I am returning from a trance.
He smiles "Remember me?"
"Yes." I respond quickly.
Trying to force the memory from my mind.
"…but you were just a childhood nightmare."
He laughs hysterically at me
His jaw moving up in down unnaturally,
"Just a nightmare? I’m far more than that my dear."
I look at him nervously.
"What are you then?"
He stands up slowly, his expression now serious.
"We've had this conversation." He says.
"Tell me. What. You. Are." I respond.
He disappears from view, yet a feel his breath on my neck.
"I’m what will be the death of you someday.
The more you see me...the closer you are."

Shattered

Written by:
Kira Shanel
Additions contributed by:

You've brought me in,
then you took me out.
Pulled me into your arms,
then taught me how to shout.
Conjoining the heart beats together.
Showing me how to fall.

Don't let me falter.
Don't let me cry.
Don't let me shatter,
or learn how to die.
Without you,
tomorrow wouldn't matter.
Without you
life wouldn't be worth living.
Without you,
I wouldn't know better,
but its easier said than done.

You see,
I am easily shattered.
You can,
tear me down in torn little bits
you learned,
of my flesh all torn and tattered.
So do you know what you want?

I can handle it,
throw it at me,
Living a life full of shit.
It might be easy,
when my bones are shattered,
but my heart is easy,
when my soul is tattered.
I will become mended.
Though the past has hurt me,
it happened faster,
and worse than intended.

Spit

by Kira Shanel

In my face,
leaving a reflective line.
Words streaking.
Words peaking.
Of your hate for me.
It’s tainted with bitterness.
Its tainted with your slime.
Harmful on your time.
Each word of hate,
leaves our spit trail.
Your filth, your nastiness.
Burning like alcohol you've consumed.
Keep spiting my dear mother,
breath reeking with alcohol.
Spit at me!
Then crawl down the hall.
I'll stand there,
to let your spit drip down and off my face.
No center.
So hollow is your chest.
How can you love me?
Mother.
A stepmother.
Nothing.
Empty and full of spit.

A Thought

By: Amy Scheibe

Once upon a time in a land that we cannot see. There are colors, and sounds, tastes, smells and feelings. There are light and dark, shadows, animals, grass, and life. There is also this thing called Death; Its where one lives, then doesn't—It’s a most peculiar thing. Most things fear death, they are afraid to fall into an abyss of a state of the great cycle while they cannot understand why. For me, death was just the beginning. You would think that such things don't exist—an after life per se—but for me, it did. It’s a malicious place; you have no idea where the start begins or where it all ends. There are no colors, no black, no white or even gray, no sounds, not even tastes—oh how I long to taste again. There is only you, only you and your thoughts. You yourself seem to wonder if all you are is a thought. How can such a place exist? That’s a question I still ponder myself.

It seems each thing I think of something, the closer I feel to it. Yet it is not a feeling—since I myself am only a thought. So what is this place? How do you describe it? I cannot.

Just imagine a place where nothing itself even exists on its own. It’s only a thought—with thoughts of its own. Death. Just a 5-letter word but its what’s inside it, not even a single thought of my intelligence can perceive that 5 lettered word. I wonder if I am dreaming. I will wake up one day
and this one nothingthough there is no time here either—will find me, just to turn me into living being again. Touching the warm bed sheets, feeling the linen slide over my skin, hearing myself breathe—a sensation some take for granted. You'll find when you die you miss air. Even when you lived you couldn’t physically see it but there’s something you miss the most. Maybe it was that feeling each time everything seemed to drift away as you took in a deep breathe… the air passing through your lips and into your lungs, the exhale that you can never EVER forget. Not even in death.

It’s not possible to be a thought with its own thoughts. Is it? But it is true. The thought of Death as a thought itself has many thoughts as well—me being one of them. Like I said before, There are no sounds or dark or light here, so you must wonder how I know of the other thoughts. There is no way to describe it to you because you only know of the 5 or 6 senses. I can describe it with none of those but per se a 7th sense.

Amicus Est Tanquam Alter Idem Pt. 1

Only Knew

What if I had only known?

What if life would have played,
out the way I wanted it to?
As if it was happiness,
instead of sorrow.

What if if I would have
only held you in?

What if you could have really seen me?

As if I was the sad and hurt.
Instead of the crazy and put up?

What if I didn't lose you?
I could have seen you grow.
I could have learned to loved you.

What if I would have told you?
Then would you care?
Would it have changed anything?

What if I would have love the name,
alive and smiling,
not cold and lifeless?

What if I told you?
I was still alive?
Not lost and gone.
What if I only knew?

I would have held you in.
