They Were Only Happy (I Could Not Understand)

I looked out my window today.
I saw all the children play.
I could not understand.

I looked out my window next day.
Gas suits and airplanes.
I could not understand,
the ground was burning.
the ground was burning.

The kids were all forced to the ground.
Yelling and screaming out loud.
To the burning dirt.

One ran away from police.
They shot him, fell to his knees.
I could not understand.

They were only happy.
They were only happy.
They were only happy.
They were only happy.

The children wanted the same fate.
I cried and then looked away.
I could not understand

There were shots that calmed them all.
Like peace through a desperate fall.
I could not understand
They were only happy.
They were only happy.
They were only happy.
They were only happy.

The children were all angels,
lying by a concrete wall.
If we are all human,
deaths from a black hand.
I cried myself to sleep the next day.
the bodies were moved all away.
I saw a grave of flowers.
I swear I could hear them sing.

I looked out my window today.
The children played round the graves.
I could not understand.
So I went out and stayed.
As the children played.
They were only happy.
They were only happy.
They were only happy.
So was I.

Remember me
